Tilefish generally inhabit waters from 400 to 800 foot deep along the Atlantic continental shelf from Gulf of Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. They live in shallow burrows and feed on squid, crabs and clams. Tilefish grow to over 60lbs. and are one of the best tasting fish in the ocean.

Fishing is usually done with 4/0 or 6/0 conventional or electric reels with 6/0 hooks, 24oz sinkers and 800 yards of 60lb. test braided line.
